Kat Creatives

When her father encouraged her to “Learn something useful, like nursing,” in college, she instead indulged her creativity in a BA in Art Illustration. Having a blank canvas of her first house inspired her to do murals and faux painting, evolving into eclectic mixes of logos, model railroad backgrounds, illustrations, pet and people portraits, and whatever people came up with for her to figure out how to create.
Kat has painted several murals and other paint projects - some international - for The Graduate Hotels and Marine & Lawn. She is also on the Board of Directors and a contributing artist for the Alaska World Arts Festival, where her community-assisted murals have helped grace the town of Homer. For several years, Kat taught the wonders of working large in two-week mural painting mini sessions to high school students. She also enjoyed teaching people the fascinating art of alpaca fiber wet-felting, creating artistic scarves.
When a paint project is not distracting her, you can find her composing art with the plantings in her garden, or out gathering inspiration from the colors and rhythms of nature as well as her international travels…
Kat’s talent derives honestly from a multigenerational family of artists on both sides.

How can I help make that a reality? Whether it’s a large mural, a small logo, a pet or personal portrait, or some other project, I strive to make a worthy representation of their idea. My primary medium is acrylic paints, as I love the vibrancy and immediacy. However, in helping others fulfill their vision, I am capable of many other media which suits the project at hand. I love to get lost in the largeness of a mural, or the nuances of a portrait. The “Wow” of a job well executed is a satisfying reward!
I’m a problem solver, which is what led me to Illustration. Someone has a vision, an artistic need!
